Social anxiety is not only reduced to an inability to feel coy, shy, or awkward in social situations, at least it can tend to dig deeper into the core of my very being.

For years, especially in my high school years, I battled with invisible walls that overwhelmed my attempts at connecting with other human beings. While I was always with crowds of other people, yet I often felt so lonely, nearly isolated.

Fellow classmates perceived me as a nerd as they would always find me reading, either academics or any self-improvement book that I would borrow from the school library. And this is what helped me.

Yes, reading helped me. Because, on my journey, I learned how reading books on social anxiety does two things for you: it equips you with the knowledge to understand your feelings, and it offers practically workable strategies to fight back and reclaim your life out of the terror of anxiety.

THE STRUGGLE WITH LONELINESS

“Who in here might be pretty lonely like me?” This is what I would wonder as a teenager. I realize I’m not the only one to admit it, but sometimes, loneliness is just really strong, even when I am around so many other people.
